The specialized website "Global Fire Power" published its ranking of the world's most powerful armies for the year 2024, and this year Libya ranked 79th out of 145 countries included in the annual review and obtained a Pwrindx score of 1.4449, ahead

of last year's ranking. 

The website stated that the data was last reviewed on 01/09/2024, and the “Global Fire Power website” classification is considered one of the most important and truthful international classifications in assessing the military power of various countries of the world and uses recognized international standards to calculate the ranking of armies according to their strength. Its combat readiness and the strength of the state in general. 

When developing the classification, experts analyze the capabilities of the armies of the countries of the world according to the factors available to the countries and within certain criteria through which the degree of the power index for a particular country (PwrIndx) is determined, which has varying degrees, and a score of 0.0000 is considered “ideal” depending on the size of the declared military force, which each can A country in the world can use it in land, sea, or air war, using conventional weapons, and each country is evaluated on the basis of official individual and collective values that are processed through the internal formula of the GFP Global Firepower website to obtain its “PwrIndx” score. Based on these values, the final classification is estimated. This final classification also allows smaller and less developed countries to compete with the largest and most technologically advanced countries alike. Thus, the site provides an unbiased look at the traditional military strength of the countries included in the classification.

 

The site specializing in classification works with a distinctive mechanism that may surprise many in terms of the order adopted by the classification and the advancement of countries that may appear to be less powerful than others and precede them in the ranking. Here it must be made clear that the experts of the “Global Fire Power” site rely on more than 50 factors to determine the degree of the strength index. It varies according to the capabilities of the countries, and together they constitute the strength of that country and its superiority in the classification. These factors include comparisons of rising powers, existing alliances, and classifications of regional blocs such as the African Union (AU), the European Union (EU), and NATO member states, and the number of manpower fit for active military service annually. Active paramilitary reserves also play an important role in calculating the GSI.
