Ukraine has once again demonstrated its ability to modernize and adapt Soviet-era fighter jets into its arsenal, as a video recently posted online has revealed. The footage clearly shows two Su-27s, part of the Ukrainian Air Force

flying in formation in the sky.

A particularly striking moment occurs when one of the jets performs a maneuver known as a “bounce” over the leading aircraft, giving observers a clear view of the weapons mounted under its wings. This is more than just a standard air show video – it’s a clear indication of the technological progress and strategic intentions of the Ukrainian forces.

The video is particularly significant because it showcases the standard equipment for integrating the American GBU-39/B precision-guided bombs, which will only begin to be installed on the Su-27 in the fall of 2024.

Previously, this type of equipment was limited to the MiG-29, but the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense officially announced in October 2024 that the modification had been expanded to include the Su-27. This represents a significant development for the Ukrainian Air Force, as the enhancement of the combat capabilities of the Su-27 has a significant impact on operational effectiveness.

The integration of the GBU-39/B with the Su-27 platform represents a technological breakthrough that highlights the engineering prowess of the Ukrainian military and its Western partners.
